This room is the quiet room, surrounded by deep green cedars and the indigenous gary oak trees. Very private.
Explore studios and shops, cocoon with a book or Netflix. It's best for guests who like to chill. But that doesn't exclude kids or dogs!
This bedroom has a staying-in-a-treehouse effect that has a double bunk bed topped by a single. It's very private.
The north facing Ardan Room looks out at a landscaped garden with a five-foot high indigenous cedar carving in view. Or look down through the trees to the shoreline below. The lower double bed is equipped with an in-mattress heating pad and the room has its own silent heater.
Both beds have individual reading lamps and ample outlets to charge your devices. Of course towels, hangars and shelves are provided for your use.
There is a one-piece composting toilet nearby just out the door (clean and convenient), as well a full shared (and very clean) bathroom with shower across the house.
We'll give you a door code for the front door. And of course, we know Salt Spring, and can help you plan a great Salt Spring visit. We have maps and brochures here for you.
A car works best for Salt Spring. Car and mo-ped bike rentals are available. Public transit is regular during days but know that the main road is a 6 min walk from our driveway. People hitchhike too! No worries.
This property is very close the Vesuvius Ferry Terminal but about 25 minute drive away from the Long Harbour or Fulford Ferry Terminals. We are only 10 minutes away from Ganges Village that has gas stations, shopping, restaurants and bars.
The level of engagement is entirely up to you. The actual Host is Kirk. You can expect me to be in and out but often home, or available to you as needed by phone. I'll help you plan your stay.
The nearest ferry terminal is Vesuvius Bay, just minutes away. The Seaside Grill, noted for great halibut fish and chips is located there. The ice cream cones are great too. There's also a sweet little coffee shop in Vesuvius.
The low-tide hike along the rocky shore to Vesuvius is fun, and the (dog-friendly) Deer Creek Park is just a few minutes walk from here.
Gas and shopping places are located in Ganges Village, about 10 minutes drive away.
The nightly Fritz cinema (built in 1896) is 4 minutes from here. BTW, this is the only Cinema in the Gulf Islands. Usually good films.
There a a gazillion galleries on this island to explore. And live music is always there on the weekends.
Our neighbours are quiet, and that's why this place is best for people who basically want to chill. Come to enjoy good food, nice wine, great scenery. Plus kids and the occasional dog are welcome. It's a relaxed house.
To maximize both your time and enjoyment of your visit it is advisable to have a vehicle. There is some daytime access to public transportation using buses that circle around the ferry terminals and make a stop in front of the Visitor Center in Ganges. Salt Spring Island does have a taxi service and safe stopping zones for hitchhiking which is considered safe here.
OMG, almost forgot to mention that breakfast (the second \"b\" in Airbnb) is included! It's simple but enough to get you going. It's self-serve - really good coffee, juice, cereals, toast or eggs.
Did you see the photo of the adjoining kitchenette? Salt Spring is known for its quaint restaurants, but sometimes our guests bring 'take-out' food from one of the restaurants and warm it up in the adjoining hallway kitchenette. This is the designed use of the kitchenette. It's not meant for cooking meals. There you have a sink, dishes, mini fridge, toaster oven, hot plate, kettle and coffee maker.
The hot tub is here for you to enjoy. It's down the steps near the water's edge. And some kids like using the X-box console on the TV.
You are welcome to stretch out on the sofa to watch Netflix or curl up to read with a glass of wine at your elbow.
Laundry is available on-site for $5 per load to cover costs. If you are bringing a dog, let us know. ( Doggie owners - please plan to leave an extra $10 on the table - we have to super-clean the whole house after a furry friend visits in case the next guest has allergies. It has happened and it's serious!)")
