With the coming of fall, family and friends in Canada, U.S. and Europe find themselves thinking of the long, cold winter approaching. It's not just the ice and snow to cope with, but the enormous heating bills, and not being able to enjoy the outdoors.
But not you...living in Panama you don't ever have a heating bill and you will never see snow. The great outdoors will be your playground all year round here in the Los Santos province on the Azuero Peninsula on the Pacific Ocean. And that includes being able to go to the beach anytime you want.
Uverito Beach stretches 3.2 kilometers (2 miles) where most of the time all you'll see is an occasional beach walker or jogger out for their exercise. Most of the long beach has single family vacation homes and is populated by a good mix of expats and locals.
The house is conveniently located just 10 minutes from the city of Las Tablas, and the city of Chitre is about 30 minutes to the north. This gives you access to shopping, healthcare, restaurants, and entertainment. Las Tablas is the capital of the Panamanian province of Los Santos, with a population of about 9,000. Las Tablas is a recognized national center of Panamanian folk: art, music, gastronomy, architecture, culture and literature.
It is known for a lively yearly Carnival, in which the city splits into two competing factions, \"Calle Arriba\" (Uptown, literally \"Street Above\") and \"Calle Abajo\" (Downtown / Street Below), both centered on two streets of the same name. Each faction will have a carnival queen, a parade, fireworks, music, a decorated plaza, food stands, presentations, concerts, games, contests, etc., all attempting to overpower the other faction's efforts. The drive from the beach winds past farmland dotted with cattle and horses.
If you feel like getting out on the water, you can go to the Port of Mensabe, a five minute drive around the corner from the house. Fishing is a major pastime and a number of fishing pangas can be contacted to go fishing.
And if you feel like kicking back, local restaurants in rustic eateries serve fried fish and ceviche for a few dollars each. Add an ice-cold beer for a buck and you can't beat it.
Uverito Beach is the go-to beach for families on weekends, holidays, and vacations, so it can be loud and crowded at times. But during the week the wide, flat, dark-sand beach is empty and it's a nice place to hang out with friends and family. The house is across the street from the beach with grassy access, a large covered patio/outdoor dining area, and hammock/rocking chairs to relax.

To get to Raquel's Ark you need to drive through town towards Rio Serreno. When you pass Hotel Don Tavo on your right take the first left on the asphalt road to Caizan/Barriles. Go three blocks and turn left. Raquel's Ark is the second house on the left.
I provide full tours. Great restaurants. You will have access to hiking areas, waterfalls, hot springs and historic digs. I provide a fast internet.

Each cabin features a queen-sized cooling gel memory foam mattress, lockable cabinetry and desk. Share a large bathroom with only one other cabin. The bathroom is close enough for comfort, but far enough for privacy. Each shared bathroom includes a private open air shower situated 16ft high up in the trees. All rooms are fully furnished with linens and towels.
Please note, the color of your cabin can vary. We have multiple cabins spread out on our 2.5 acre property. The central common areas of the lodge are all have great wifi access. Each of the cabins access to wifi vary depending on your device and the location in proximity to the central common areas. Some of the cabins have great wifi inside the cabin itself, while others might require you access the wifi from the deck.

You will have access to the pool, public lounge space with a huge BBQ pit and a well equipped public kitchen!
If you don't feel like cooking for yourself we have a bar+coffee/sandwich shop on site that is open 5 days a week. We also sell food basics on site, just in case you forget to bring something in your groceries.
We always have plenty of beer and soda at the bar, so to save space in the public fridge please don't bring cases of beer.
Also, there are 2 other great restaurants within walking distance for dinner.
We live at the lodge and are always around in the morning. During the daytime we might be out enjoying the beach, or relaxing.
We are located just steps away from a surf beach. Also, there are a few restaurants and bars within walking distance. Please understand world class surf beaches aren't always great places to swim. This beach has reef and rock on it for a perfect left and right reef break. There are swimming beaches located about a 15-20 minute walk from our lodge, but the beach closest to us is for surfing.
Nomad really is an awesome experience, but it's not for everyone! As mentioned, we are not located in Bocas Town, or even walking distance to town. We are about 6km from town. You can easily take a $3-5, per person, cab to town every single day if you want. Bocas Town itself is built on the bayside, so it's a great place for bars and restaurants, but not a great place to enjoy the ocean. That's why so many people choose to stay in our neighborhood.
If you can't afford a 15 minute cab ride, or wouldn't enjoy a 30 minute bike ride then don't book with us. If you think being 6km from town means we aren't worthy of 5 stars for location, then don't book with us! Please remember, you are choosing to stay with us, not the other way around. Please don't arrive here knowing our distance from town and knowing we are in the jungle behind a surf beach and not a swimming beach, and then say the location isn't great.
We understand it's not great for everyone, so if you wouldn't consider being outside of town, in the jungle, just behind a surf beach great, just don't stay with us!
We are about a 25-30 min bike ride from Bocas Town, or a short 10-15 min cab ride from town. Cabs are $3-5 per person and readily available through out the day. We can call a cab for you, but they are easy to flag down if you walk to the road. We do rent bikes for $5 for a full 24 hours.

We have a cat as you can read and of course there can be hairs on it on some sofa in the living room or on the floor.
The kitchen is in common use, the use of the washer and dryer costs $ 5 per load.
You can ask me any questions about the city or similar, I like to support you on how to get around the city and what to visit.
It is a very central and safe area. Nearby is the subway station and many restaurants.
Possible to move by subway or bus because we have stations less than 3 minutes walk. If they have a vehicle, they can park it just outside the building, it is very safe (I have left the car there several nights).
We have a cat. The accommodation DOES NOT have air conditioning, at night we sleep with open windows and a ceiling fan, please refrain from booking if they are too hot, we sleep well as well and at night it is not hot but we are not all the same.")

We are at the entrance of Cacique village near main street.The area is very calm but in a few minutes you can reach little grocery shops in the village.
The car is important to get there and get around but there are also public buses(twice per day) and taxis.If you need we can give you more details about shared bus services from Panama City.
The private space is ideal to enjoy on the weekend but also for a long vacation.You have a kitchen where to prepare your meals and in the village a local woman cooks delicious food.More,near there is a very good french restaurant. Small friendly beach & country community with a mixture of Panamanians, expats, families with children, and retirees. Our home is in a neighborhood within walking distance of most everything in town. Expect the roosters to be crowing all day & throughout the night, and typical music to be playing at the nearby cantina. Sometimes there is construction noise from neighbors building onto their homes. There are a variety of good restaurants , small markets, and artisans shops nearby(list & map provided). Explore 3 different beaches, about 2-3 kilometers away, and many more beautiful beaches including Playa Venao (famous for surfing) within 30 kilometers. Or spend a day snorkeling at nearby Isla Iguana or fishing along the \"Tuna Coast\".
Buses, taxis or walk. Bicycle rentals are available in town. (There are also AirPanama flights from Panama City to Chitré (from there you can rent a car or take buses to Pedasí.)
Up to 2 guests only (2 adults or 1 adult & 1 child-12 years or older). Tap water is good for drinking, but filtered water in refrigerator and from kitchen tap available. The resort has a restaurant calles Aku, that is open 11am-4pm Wednesday - Sunday (average $20 per person).
Supremely situated just 1 hour from Panama City. The best alternative is driving your own car, so one can go around Portobelo and some other places nearby. For those who prefer not driving, we can recommend a known transportation service - not included.
